הָיְתָה מֻטָּה עַל צִדָּהּ בָּאֲוִיר וְכַזַּיִת מִן הַמֵּת נָתוּן תַּחְתֶּיהָ אוֹ עַל גַּבָּהּ, כֹּל שֶׁהוּא כְנֶגֶד הַזַּיִת, תַּחְתֶּיהָ וְגַבָּהּ, טָמֵא. וְכֹל שֶׁאֵינוֹ כְנֶגֶד הַזַּיִת, תּוֹכָהּ, טָהוֹר. בְּתוֹכָהּ, הַכֹּל טָמֵא:

If it was lying on its side in the open air and a [piece the size of] an olive of a dead body was placed beneath or on top of it, anything which is opposite the [piece the size of an] olive beneath and on top of it is impure. Anything which is not opposite the [piece the size of an] olive, inside it is pure. If it were inside [the basket] everything is impure.
